RESEARCH & SCHOLARSHIP

I study animal evolution and development.

My particular interests are the evolution and development of sea urchins and sand dollars, and the biodiversity of cave invertebrates of the Cumberland Plateau.

I have worked with students on research projects studying animals as varied as spiders, snails, millipedes, ants, salamanders, isopods, and clams.

I Co-Direct the Island Ecology Program, which takes place every summer.
