Professor John Palisano in the Department of Biology was recently featured in a CNBC news article entitled "Congress joins 'superbug' fight-for good or bad." The article mainly focuses on a debate of how to stop the spread of deadly superbugs such as MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). Dr. Palisano was quoted in regards to the fight against the spread, "Sure we need new drugs, but we really have to stop putting antibiotics into everything like soap, toothpaste, our water supply and livestock feed," he argued. "It won't cure the situation. Nothing might. But it will greatly reduce the danger."
